home.mchsi.com — The new Vista Pre-RC1 build (5536) works now on Intel Macs. The installation procedure is the same as with Windows XP SP2. The only down side is that not all the drivers provided in Boot Camp will work under Vista; the iSight and the Apple...

I SAID IT BEFORE AND I WILL SAY IT AGAIN!!!! NOBODY SEEMS TO UNDERSTAND THE SERIOUSNESS OF THIS!!!If Windows Vista's implimentation of Direct X 10 IS NOT backward compatible beyond DX8 there is going to be significent trouble for Microsoft with home users and especially gamers. PC games, like it or not statistics don't lie, is the #1 driving force behind the Home PC Industry. I have yet to see anything, hear anything or read anything at all anywhere that tells me Direct X 10 has been changed. I also have doubts as to how well DX10's OpenGL emulation will work. Kiss your OpenGL CG animation and CAD software goodbye if it sucks. And, most eveything I've learned about Vista is the fact that it doesn't have 16-bit legacy binaries. Most software for Windows XP and especially games use pre-packaged install programs from 3rd party vendors. Over 90% of these are 16-bit apps rather than 32-bit, mostly because they don't have to be compiled 32-bit if it just a run-once installation program. This will make it impossible to install most software (including many popular games) on Windows Vista thus severely limiting the library of apps and games for the OS at launch.

Vista gets too much bad press, there are some very promising aspects of the new vista.. but I would definitely buy a mac in order to use both apple's OS and microsoft's OS.
