news.cnet.com— It's hardly a reflection of the broad market, but 19 of the top 20 best-sellers at the online retailer run Mac OS X Linux, or Windows XP.

I understand this perfectly well. I was one of those people who bought a $600 laptop within a year of Vista coming out. Yeah...gotta love that gradual slowdown that comes with "vista compatible hardware."
One guy makes a closed OS that only runs on closed hardware. The other guy makes a closed OS that can run on every PC, even the one you have at home. How are Jobs and Gates exactly the same?
He spent more time trying to explain why the top 10 wasn't all apple (as it would be in a perfect apple fanboy world) then anything else really. The apple ego is a very very sensitive thing.
I'd disagree with that. In my experience OS X is also crippled compared to Linux. It's slower too (I've run 32 bit Ubuntu and 64 bit OS X on similar hardware, and Ubuntu trounces OS X, so 64 bit Ubuntu would annihilate OS X.Oh, and from a technical viewpoint OS X isn't Linux-based at all. It does use some of the same GNU tools as a Linux distro, but it's based on FreeBSD and uses a different kernel (called XNU). It's still a Unix-like operating system though.
Amazon is no where NEAR a barometer, out of the 100 people you know with laptops, how many ordered it on amazon???i'd say 1 at the most. this is a pretty pointless article, even though i'm sure its correct in assuming that no one likes vista, it doesnt mean the article proved that
Alright honestly I get dugg down for saying an Operating System is "solid"?Wow I didn't even say anything fanboyish or negative against windows or linux. Not "zomg macs are the bestest ever i want to suck steve job's penis and have his babies!!!!!" I just said it was "solid". Some people really have problems. It's a damn operating system. Get over yourselves.
