news.bbc.co.uk— Scientists have found a way to boost an organism's natural anti-virus defences - effectively making its cells immune to flu and other potential killers.

FTAHe said: "Boosting the innate immune system seems like a good idea - it has a huge practical application in theory." But, citing the failed drug trials in North London two years ago which left several young men fighting for their lives, he added: "It could be a double-edged sword. "You have to be jolly careful that you don't end up on Queer Street." -- What does that last line mean?
Freaked me out. Before I read the article I thought that they had made a virus that was immune to vaccinations or something. The whole "Killer bee" experiment came to mind.Luckily, it was the opposite. Bravo, science.
just a side note: i'm sure i'll get shat on for saying this, but perhaps immunity from disease is worse-off. not saying i get a hard-on over the thought of children, friends, and family dying from disease. however, the thought of famine and global conflict over food, water and energy, with all of the horrors that warfare brings, is much, much worse. sometimes it's best just to let nature run its course, and struggling against the inevitable makes it worse in the end.
I wish people would get their medical knowledge from something other than movies. I bet virologists have just as much to laugh at as programmers do when it comes to hollywood stretching the truth.
What the f**k does that have to do with biology, chemistry, biochemistry, etc...typical science like this article. You should be asking engineers that and aerospace techs. ****.
I already have such syndrome as an overdriving auto inmune system. It's called Myasthenia and it attacks my own neuromuscular system. I take Micophenolic acid just like an organ transplant patient, to lower the inmune response. ($300, a box of 20 pills, for a week).I haven't had a cold in years, and It's a drag... I cant be in the sun, and I cant get overtired because the inmune system will go overdrive and try to kill me.<a class="user" href="http://xn--mgbebpr0j.xn----ymcae0df5a6fo.com

Also: PatentsThese medical advances are literally owned by companies. Linking advances in healthcare to companies (aka. money) is never a good idea.
