On my setup (Host is XP SP2) Vista on VirtualPC 2007 SP1 is incredibly slow, but Vista on VirtualBox runs smooth.

It still does not run popular Linux distros out of the box (Ubuntu/Debian, CentOS, etc.). Since VMWare and even VirtualServer don't have problems with these, it's the perfect fail.

I love VirtualBox, but still can't move away from Windows until they support ieee1394 pass-through like they do with USB. Musicians and video producers need this to use a lot of windows-only Firewire audio gear (I'm looking at YOU, Alesis.. make some Linux drivers already!!)I've posted a thread on the VirtualBox forums, if you want iee1394 support, PLEASE go there and make your voice heard. The VirtualBox team seems to think no one uses it.

Right, the problem with USB was much deeper than that and involved me editing some conf file. I suspect that solving my network problem will require more of the same...

nLite is awesome for setting up a VM. I can get XP SP3 to boot in 10 seconds from BIOS screen to Desktop.

It's free and runs on Mac's OS X, Linux or Windows.
