washingtonpost.com — Virginia is considering a pair of bills that would ban texting while driving a car, bicycle, motorcycle, moped or even an electric wheelchair. Lawmakers in four other states, including Maryland, are considering similar proposals. Currently in VA this is already illegal for anyone under 18, but if this passes, it will be for everyone.

To bad other people have to be on the road with you. Your passenger has a choice.

Rare! Text messaging is relatively new. The experience is not there.

Maybe it would be easier to have a "media/i'm busy lane" on the road where stupid people can talk on cellphones and drive or text and drive or do whatever and drive and crash into one another, eliminating their stupid selves and doing everyone else a favor. Damn! I am so tired of stupid-ass people making life difficult for the rest of us.

I don't understand how people manage to send SMS messages whilst driving. I've only just managed the art of steering with my knees whilst eating a KFC so these "texters" must have some godlike driving skills. In the UK you're not allowed to use a hand held mobile handset at all, regardless of whether it's for text messages or voice calls.
