Will this be like the Sam Fox fiasco? Gonzales will hint that he's stepping down to avert an official Senate vote, and then change his mind over the weekend and hang on for a while? It's not clear who Specter is carrying the water for these days. But it is clear that the WH objective is to keep Gonzo in power for as long as possible to protect BushCo. With 2008 only 18 months away, every delay in unraveling this house of cards is significant to all sides.
