What are the alternatives? Buy the entire DVD set when I only want one episode? Save a buck and buy it off iTunes? Spend 30 hours waiting for bittorrent to maybe get it?
Wouldn't that movie look worse in HD? I don't remember it having great cinematography, and even the res of the DVD make the special effects look dated.
No, that's what torrents are for.I'm saying these offerings are terrible, sorry if CSI and it's 7 offsprings don't float my boat, but the least they could do is offer some shows that are popular NOW.Lost? Heroes? BSG?Oh, right... all content I could go without seeing. Why put shows up there that are on G4TV and network cable already that aren't popular or exciting? And let's not forget the astronomical price and small hard drives we are stuck with for the time being. Nothing like paying that $3 to see an episode of a TV show that's 8 years old and then have it turn into dead space on the HD.
I agree with you mostly but if the money charged is 'all profit' how come it costs so much then? Why aren't the downloads almost free so that the service becomes more attractive than the alternatives? The sad reality is that it costs so much because the content providers want to scalp the customers for as much as they can get away with. Their eyes have lit up at the prospect of overcharging and they don't even really want downloading to take off anyway because of the panic over DRM and the content being redistributed out of their control. The waiting on a Sunday was a reference to the fact that the download service was being put forward by a poster above as being 'on demand' when it obviously isn't.
@piper - I've had HD for at least three years now via my cable box. HD-DVD players are not the only source of HD programming. You do realize that? I also didn't state that the service was on-demand. If you know you're going to stay in on a Sunday or whatever day....you can easily start downloading the night before or the morning you go to work to have it available that evening.
well, i just downloaded 2 eps of robot chicken, just to see what it's all about, and i got a f**king 30 second, pixelated version of south park (s10e?--my super sweet 16) and chappelle's show. WTF!? now, i want my GODDAMN MONEY BACK! f**k THIS s**t!
