Those who find the MacBook Pro overpriced...all new Core Duo notebooks from every PC vendor are priced the same. Check out Acer's new 15.4" TravelMate 8200 notebook with Intel Core Duo http://www.notebookreview.com/default.asp?newsID=2697. Same spec as the MacBook Pros and cost the same.Could these be the iBook replacements coming? http://www.engadget.com/2006/01/12/msi-s262-core-duo-carbon-fiber-12-1-inch-widescreen/

"On the same hand the sales guy should know about the proprietary software apple makes since he works for them on that 1 os with only a handful of programs."One OS? Uh oh! If that isn't Umbuntu on my old iBook, then what is it? That's not to mention the dozen or so other linux distros and some BSDs. Oh, and it's quite possible that the new Intel Macs will be able to dual-boot Windows (assuming Apple's implementation of EFI has BIOS backwards-compatibility) or most other commodity PC operating systems.Every OS is proprietary if it's not open-source. Seeing as the lower levels of OS X is open-source (Darwin) it's a heck of a lot less proprietary than most. And as for software availability; the only place the Mac OS is really hurting is with CAD. The OS X software market is saturated in every other area.
