My sincere apologies, I wasn't clear in my comments. I didn't mean that mainstream Catholics actually participate in these activities. I meant to say that the leadership is responsible for these crimes, and that members are of course not holding them accountable to the degree they should.I also would hold that the majority if not the totality of religious groups participate in such fraudulent activities.

You don't have to know about the gnostic gospels to know that Jesus had 12 apostles, and only some of them were mentioned by name. It also refers in many of the "canon" gospels that mary was close to Jesus.

You are not a Catholic. Calling yourself Catholic does not make you Catholic. Striving to live the teachings of the Catholic church(or any faith) makes you a member of that faith. Openly espousing a belief contrary to that faith shows that you do not want to be a member of that faith.

Catholic traditions are the result of the social, economic, and political constraints of the time. They have nothing to do with God, and it's time to progress a little bit. Yes, I am Catholic, but I'm not a Catholic who blindly follows what an old man in a pointy hat happens to believe.
