Never read the bible, never read the phone book. About the same to me, except one is more useful (I'll let you figure which one is more). Da Vinci Code - FictionBible - Really Really Really Really old "stories" retold until written down by someone who may or may not have been looking out for their own interests. Jesus - a being, who was a man, born from a woman, a great leader and role model for 2000+ years.Mary - A woman who may have been from a royal bloodline. ------- Ask yourself this, if she was a prostitute, why would the church make her more famous than any other woman of that time. I'm sure there were alot of women after Jesus, tempting, coming on to, etc. Why this ONE person? Could there be fact in the church downplaying her role???? All I know that is "Fact" is that man is flawed. Man wrote the bible, the DCode, the math test I failed in high school, and a bunch of other crap. We just pick what we want to believe. Personally, I think the Native Americans have it figured out better than most. What would you rather do, read a phone book, or smoke a pipe & see Mother Nature as something way cool! :)
Personally I dont see what is so outragous about Jesus having children, does it actually say anywhere in the bible that he didnt? I find "religious people" to be the most contracending, arragant people around. I find it very hard to beleive that out of all the religions there are that christianity is the only one that will save. I mean there are alot of children etc brought up in religions that arent christian. So these kids are doomed to goto hell even though they are only doing what they are told by there parents? Where is the fairness in that? As well as this i know alot of christians that are well for want of better more descriptive words, just plain f**king rude. Its always the "christians" that judge people, think they are better than everyone around them. Ive gotta be more honest with you i have more values than most of the "christians" around today. This book is an excellent read, the film will be a well spent 2 hours. My thoughts on the whole the church not liking it thing are, why are they getting so up tight? They are making themselves look guilty by being so quick to say "this film is rubbish, dont turn your heads away from us, we are right etc." Honestly, alot less people would even consider this book as anything more than a fictional spin on a topic that hits home with alot of people. The church makes themselves look guilty.
As a catholic, I find it recommendable that everybody reads the book and find out for themselves. WITHOUT paying the author. Having said that, I find it hard to believe that SO MANY people are so easily manipulated by the market."Ooooh... a book about the *EVIL* and *WRETCHED* Vatican! I *MUST* read it!".And THEY call us brainwashed sheeps. Give me a break.P.S. I watched the Discovery Channel documentary entitled "Da Vinci decoded", where Dan Brown's "facts" are proven lies. Now I wonder if the Vatican is involved in a *SECRET* and *EVIL* conspiracy with Discovery Channel, heh.
