gamedaily.com — At the Game Business Law summit at SMU's law school today, Valve's Jason Holtman addressed the business models behind the company's popular Steam service. Valve talked about Steam, digital distribution and the PC market. Interestingly, Valve sees pirates as "tons of undiscovered customers."

I'm from Argentina and I bought L4D for $37 during the holiday sale deal. I already had the pirated version but wanted to play online (hassle free) and have the latest future patches from the moment they are released. You could say I bought not content but a license to play it buy I'm fine with that given that I played countless hours online so far (compared to the offline-only/buggy online servers from the pirate version).Another odd remark is that the retail version it's not yet available in my country, so Steam is the only legal way to buy it.

I simply pirate things that are Hollywood trash or music label landfill. Anything that actually had creativity, soul and thought put into I'd pay for, so the creators get their due funding and can make more. Its kind of a weird way of the industry righting itself up I think, putting the public back in charge. The mass-production companies get pirated and the little guys get their revenue. Its just called selective support.

Really? Most people that steal cars really just want to test drive it after business hours.

Please exclude L4D from your statement. L4D2 in less than a yr. FTW!!!!! I've been looking to blow 50$ on the same game I bought last November. NOW I CAN.
