techreport.com — Processors are typically compared by their performance alone, but the folks at The Tech Report have put together an extensive comparative article that ranks 16 AMD and Intel chips based on how much bang they offer for your buck. The results may surprise you.

No? Do you even know what Moore's Law says?

if it overheats at all at 3.01 (and I assume it's damn near it) performance will be lost, just because you can overclock it, doesn't mean it = the performance of a true 3.01, I think most experienced OC'ers would agree with that statement. I believe a 15% OC with any of the intel line is a safe bet, anything over and you are risking the life of the CPU and killing performance, I keep my e6600 at 2.8ghz, I _know_ it can do 3.2, but there is no way I would constantly run it that high.I have a 9500NP but I've used the Typhoon on another project, I can tell anyone while it makes a difference, it's not "vastly superior" - the 9500 does an excellent job with the right airflow.

@betterthWhy are you comparing quad core processors to core 2 duo?? They are a completely different architecture. Oh and btw, quad cores run a lot hotter than core 2's do, so in answer to your question a quad core will run hotter than an overclocked core 2 (this can be backed up if you look at benchmarks). And yes, you are full of it because the only difference between models in the E6x00 series (excluding the E6300 and E6400) are the clock speeds. They have the same cache, same core, same design. They are just clocked differently.

The core 2 duo's are pretty much made to be overclocked. If you keep the temps for your chip under 60 degrees celcius under load, then you are fine. The whole 15% increase limit doesn't really apply anymore. Just as an example, I have an E6420 2.13Ghz @ 3.2Ghz = 50% overclock (with zalman 9700 cooling). The temps are fine, idling in the 30 degrees celcius range and under load, it goes into the 40's. My computer is 100% stable and people have even gotten higher overclocks than what I have gotten, so you may want to re-evaluate your overclocking statements.Need proof? I'm sorry, but you have no clue what you're talking about.

Doesn't SupCom use quads?
