arstechnica.com— VMWare drops a mini-bomb on the Mac virtualization world with its most recent beta, which features "experimental" 3D graphics acceleration. But, it doesn't support all games.

If you have problems launching another VM after killing vmware just launcht activity monitor and kill the vmware_debug task that seems to keep running forever in the background.
In addition to what I said before, tons of apps utilize 3D effects in their setups, as well as other things - notably QuickSilver, and Apple's setup if that counts (probably not).
VMWare has a list of games that are compatible with this current "experimental" feature: * Aliens vs. Predator Demo * Breath of Fire IV * Grand Theft Auto III (Tip: Set the Display Setup option Trails to OFF.) * Hitman 2 * Lord of the Realms III * Max Payne 1 * Max Payne 2 * Need for Speed Porsche Demo * RalliSport Challenge * Tony Hawk 3 * X-2 Rolling Demohttp://search.ashtech.info/games

beryl runs in openGL they only talk about directX in this. When it has _full_ hardware support i will just run Linux and windows in a VM.

VMware workstation 6 already supports experimental 3D: Go to user's manual under help menu and then look at page 320 for more information
