That is utterly amazing. It just shows you how much computers can come alive when we're not stuck behind a single mouse pointer. All we can do is point and grunt. This is how it should be!

cool but nobody mentioned the "greasy finger screen effect"... I hope you can wipe some good ole Windex on these screens.

No way Apple will be granted the patent now.

Moronic. Apple wouldn't use an academic research project to leak their new designs. That wouldn't follow in their "secretive" paths now would it. It is a cool technology but the FTIR is on a 36 x 27 display.Juts because it looks like a OSX dock up top, doesn't mean that it's not just running some sort of app on top of MacOSX. The guy behind the project just has had a lot of Mac experience (used to work on CU-SeeMe)You would have to recode all of you applications to work with multi-point displays. Not impossible, but very improbable currently.

Oh... man... Coolest video I think I've ever seen. It's like what they've been doing in the movies forever. Just think where that technology could take us... Its as revolutionary as the mouse!

I think it'll be just like your keyboard. Look at the dirt on your keyboards right now. At least, with touch screens, you can use windex and not fry your circuitry.Still it would be a hassle to have to continually wipe your screen for prints.

Jeff Han didn't invent this but he made it possible. Before him it was just a bunch of conceptuals and experimentals things... nothing related to multi-users/multi-touch interactives interfaces. And he really push the technology a little bit... Anyway, it's not apple, it's not microsoft, it's Jeff in this story that is the true hero.
