thinkprogress.org — On the House floor, virulently anti-Muslim Rep. Goode (R-VA) said Iraq critics were aiding "jihadists who want the crescent and star to wave over the Capitol of the United States and over the White House of this country."

What the hell is up with labeling ALL conservatives as theists? I know this is off topic, but this s**t doesn't fly when making huge, sweeping generalizations about any other group of people.I consider myself conservative - I don't trust the government and I'd like them involved in my life as little as necessary - but I do NOT believe in God(s). While I'm at it, I don't approve of Bush or what his admin. is doing! I can still be a conservative and a Republican though, as shocking as that may seem to many diggers. I don't think this admin. is following traditional conservatism and it's definitely isolating itself from true conservatives throughout the country.I'm sure some liberals/progressives DO believe in God and some don't, but I don't make sweeping generalizations that all democrats/liberals are "godless" (as some other asshat conservatives HAVE claimed.) It's a preposterous generalization and, like I said, it wouldn't fly in any other realm of discussion besides politics. Stop this crap, stop buying into the hype from ALL the media whores (Fox, CNN, MSNBC, etc... I don't care who they are, more polarization = more ratings for them all and EVERYONE has a built-in bias). The country isn't nearly as divided into hardcore left/right as many people are beginning to believe. Man this s**t pisses me off./rant

"Some of the comments that have been uttered about Islam do not reflect the sentiments of my government or the sentiments of most Americans. Islam, as practiced by the vast majority of people, is a peaceful religion, a religion that respects others. Ours is a country based upon tolerance and we welcome people of all faiths in America." Remarks by President George W. Bush in a statement to reporters during a meeting with U.N. Secretary General Kofi AnnanThe Oval Office, Washington, DCNovember 13, 2002
