thinkprogress.org — On Fox News Sunday this morning, Secretary of Defense Robert Gates said that President Bush should veto a measure by Sen. Jim Webb (D-VA), which would “mandate that home leaves for troops last as long as their deployments.” The measure failed in July to break a Republican filibuster, “but it appears to be gaining momentum in the Senate.”

I believe toddcat was saying that keeping the troops home makes sense and IS a good idea... That is why Bush will not support it... Get it? I think you missed the joke... Replying to someone who supports your opinion, screaming and saying f**ktard over and over makes you look, well... f**ktarded I guess... In any case your grammar is terrible and your hostility is not helping anything... So as you said good job reading, I will say, good job comprehending what you read, then writing something incomprehensible, like "If not, go f**k yourself"... So if not you don't support the law go f**k yourself...?? Stay in school Konrad.ME FAIL ENGLISH? THAT'S UNPOSSIBLE!!! -Ralph Wiggum

I'm military.Iran is a done deal. It's going to happen because of the perceived threat to US forces and interests in the region.Logic and and public support are irrelevant. Those opposed to it, or who think it won't affect them, should think twice as the following are facts:1) the same people denouncing the war and talking s**t about MY PRESIDENT voted to reduce the size of the military and strip it of the money and funding it needed in the 90's.2) those same people, here on Digg, and out there in DC protesting and talking about something that is not their decision, are the people that said nothing as we exported military tasks and jobs to contractors so that they military wouldn't be doing stuff YOU PEOPLE would bitch about.3) Now you people bitch about Blackwater. Companies like Blackwater exist because pussies like YOU GUYS wanted the military to be smaller and cost less money and not practice to fight wars. Because of that, and ONLY BECAUSE OF THESE STUPID CIRCA-1993 decisions, we will need a draft to fight any conflict in the future, whether it is defending Taiwan; invading Iran and showing them we mean business; aligning Venezuela; dealing with a resurgent Russia; intervening in Northern and Western Africa; etc.4) The same people that will Digg me down are the ones that will be drafted because they wouldn't volunteer to fight a worthey battle of good vs. evil.5) Radical Islam, the violence they preach, and their threat to your life, and to my and my families lives, is VERY REAL, no matter what twisted f**ktard view you have on the world.6) Yes, Virginia there ARE countries/people that want to kill Americans. What a novel idea...being non-interventionist makes you look like a pussy, and people/countries will treat you and your citizenry in kind.7) Don't bother brining up the 2008 elections. It's not about the President, only his Cabinet matters.THEY make the decisions, he presides and vetoes every now and then.REPLACING BUSH WILL NOT STOP COUNTRIES/RELIGIONS/FOREIGN ARMIES FROM HATING AMERICA AND WANTING TO KILL US.The power is in the Secretary and Directors (CIA, State, Defense, Attorney General, etc).8) My $1800.00/month paycheck will go down significantly to fund training, food, equipment and housing for the new draftees in any conflict with Iran, but I will gladly take the paycut so that people get to see first hand that yes, there ARE people that want to kill us in this world, and the non-pussy, way to stay alive is to hit them first.

Switzerland's defensive strategy is similar to a porquepine's and much more effective than the USA's.
