thinkprogress.org — Rep. John Murtha blasted McCain yesterday for making a joke about IEDs during a Daily Show appearance. This morning on ABC’s Good Morning America, McCain hit back, calling Murtha a hysteric. “I don’t know how to react to that kind of hysteria to a comedy show. ... Lighten up and get a life."

Gramps has crossed the line and needs to be put out to pasture. How quickly McCain has made himself irrelevant...where was he today on the Iraq supplemental funding vote?

You know what's a good strategy for success? Stop opening your mouth.Seriously, thinking and speaking at the same time is hard, so why not leave it to the professionals?

He's right.McCain performed terribly in Daily Show, but Murtha is being silly. The Daily Show is, indeed, a comedy show, and it was, indeed, obvious that McCain was trying to joke (and the IED joke was actually his best joke; the other, like joking about kicking a dog, fell *really* flat). However, Murtha is of course not really upset. The real point of Murthas criticism is to get more people to see clips from McCains visit to the Daily Show - where like I said, McCain performed badly. McCain should hope not too many of his supporters get to see how nervous and jittery he came across.
