Basically this article is no digg because of "Well i do not make flash afterall and i don't have to use photoshop afterall" style :) and to say that wysiwyg is not for develpoers is just to n00b.

It's not an issue of GIMP replacing Photoshop, they are just tools.I mean, most of the people here are better off using "Windows Magic Picture Maker" instead. I mean, when you *depend* on filters and layer styles, it's pretty clear how proficient you are with design.GIMP and Photoshop are practically identical, if you know how to create art (and not "Deviant Art").

> Actually running the .Net app is slower than running an app on a standard LAMP config. The PHP interpreter runs 3-8 times slower than any JIT virtual machine including .net clr and Sun's jvm. FFS where do you get your facts ? Also every proprietary database (Oracle/SQLServer/Sybase) is at *least* as fast as the fast-touted MySQL.

Well done for not managing to read the article or any of the comments here. You really don't think testing in Internet Explorer occurred to anybody but you?

@iTorrey, exactly - surely it's the output that counts. The tool is a means to an end. One reason I got out of the web development business is the bigotry and closed mindedness around technology. From "you can't be a designer unless you have Photoshop" to "you only use PHP because you're not good enough for Java", it just makes for a very unpleasant work ethic. That's not to say there aren't really cool companies, of course. There are some who are genuinely interested in what you can do, rather than the tool you use to do it. I just never found one.

I was just at RailsConf a couple weeks ago and nearly everyone there was developing on Macs.

@willcode4beer:Bluefish is NOT a WYSIWYG editor. It is a text editor. I don't think you really tried bluefish.

WYSIWYG is for 13 yr old girls that want to make their MySpace layouts pretty. Shut up.
