Why would you watch a movie on your ipod anyway, In addition I heard no one complaining when dvd's where about the same price as VHS for better quailty and the added features, this is the same idea, same content it costs them no more or no less to produce it this way why not charge the same

The thing I hate about iTunes music is that you can only download it from their server once. Better make backups. Do they do the same thing for movies? I'm into collecting entire seasons of TV shows, but my hard drive can only hold so much. Would be nice to buy it, but only download it from Apple right before that big plane trip.

What's the problem here?Folks, this is what economies are all about. If you think a $2 million house, or a $180K car, or a $10 digital movie is a rip-off, by all means -- don't buy it.When no one buys it, the price will fall... specifically because no one bought it.That's how a free market is supposed to work. If people had simply stopped buying CDs for $15 in the nineties, prices would inevitably have plummeted until the CDs started selling again. Who knows how low they would have gone? Same is true with any product in any free market anywhere in the world, with the sole exception of monopolies -- for instance, Microsoft never has to sell Windows to Dell for lower money, ever, because Dell has *no choice* but to buy it, for whatever price Microsoft decides, if Dell wants to stay in business. But we are in a much stronger position than that. No need to bitch about this stuff. Just vote with your wallets.

If you don't mind used copies (guarenteed to work, very few scratches, and with a normal case) you can buy DVDs from netflix from like $5-10.The only thing I'm not sure about is if you must have a subscription. Netflix rocks anyway, so you *should* have an account ;)

DRM media equal ZERO dollar value $ - literally. a song with drm is not worth 99cents its worthless. You can not legally put it on anything else. the quality sucks you have NO RIGHT to reaccess the file if its lost (if they want to impliment drm they should be liable to providing it to me on demand forever) You cant resell it you cant trade it. its value is quite literally 0.00 $The same applies for the movies. for a THROAWAY service which is what this HERE is what I would consider FAIR Pricing for thowaway rental content which is basically what this stuff isMusic 25cents a song over 3 months old 50cents a song 3months or newerVideo $1 for new stuff 75cents for older stuff (anything not "this" season)Movies $1.50 for low quality or low rated stuff $2-$2.50 for newer and or much higher resolution$5 if I can burn it to a DVD at dvd resolution and apparent qualityanything more than that and its not worth the bytes its made ofChris Taylorhttp://www.nerys.com/

Apple just needs to find the right price. Too high, and they'll find that people won't buy because the price is too close to DVDs. Too low, and they'll lose money. They need to price these at a point where people would basically throw money away at them even if they have the DVD, just for the convenience of having it on their ipod. They need to figure out what the best price is for the value proposition. That right price would be something that wouldn't immediately preclude DVD sales -- you'd want to intice me to buy BOTH the DVD and the online copy. You'd definitely want to price it so you're making a net gain, but not at a price where it's much more inticing for me to buy the DVD instead, or to buy the online movie at the *expense* of buying the DVD.
