morph3ous.net — The State of Florida's People First Job Portal is using one of the extremely old-school browser detection scripts. If not using Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator 6.2 or higher, it redirects you to an error page. This is ridiculous because Firefox is the second-most popular browser on the web and shares the layout engine with Navigator 6.2+.

Now, honostly, firefox is fine, i don't happen to like it. But how do you (none IE users) feel being blocked from a site. Ask an IE user who's experienced the same because of a firefox nut, i'm sure you both feel the same way about now. Obviously this was done for compatability reasons, but it's obvious it's not intentional and is simply outdated since firefox renders the page with no flaws. I'd simply say that maintaining the government's websites is not on the high priority list. All websites should be accessable to everyone, that's the way it should be no one should be blocking anyone, period. This is the internet and designed for the freedom of information. It doesn't matter how much of a pain in the ass it is for you to write your code, if that's your job, you get paid to do it so do your job.Stop the browser wars!

Can't agree with you more, I use Safari, but Windows users can't use Safari, so go with the Fox.

no, but it should stay at the top of the page until it is fixed!

Dingle, you are obtuse. The problem is less about Firefox, and more about an ENTIRE population of Macintosh users being banned from the site because they aren't running windows.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Several ones of people will be tottally affected by this! WHAT TO DO! That website should shell out however much money to update their scripts because both people applying for a job there in firefox will have to switch over for a few minutes!

Same thing goes for one of the websites that I apply for financial aid. I had to use a public computer at the University and hope that I successfully cleared everything so I don't get my identity stolen
