torrentfreak.com — Ubuntu, the open source GNU/Linux based operating system, is about to release its next big update - Intrepid Ibex. In the past, the update servers would crash very quickly on a big release day, making it hard for people to get the latest update. With BitTorrent, however, this can be easily avoided.

That is precisely what apt-p2p does. In fact, that is how it is doing this upgrading process, it sets up a proxy between apt and the repository and downloads from a peer when possible and from the repository when not.Personally, I think that is f**king awesome.

@ayeroxor: Actually a university, as in "universitas magistrorum et scholarium", means that you're a society of "those who teach and those who learn". It's quite different from a producer-consumer relationship, even though it might look like one.

If you wanna learn, you've gotta learn to teach yourself. Find answers to your questions. It is a very FAQ. First hit on GOOOOOOOOOGLEhttp://www.ubuntu.com/getubuntu/upgrading

Holy s**t ... I'm getting 2.5 MB/s download. That's Megabytes. Why isn't everyone using bittorrent for popular things?(I'm on FiOS but I don't usually get speeds like this)

I think being arrogant sometimes not too good either. I think it time to think why your business need to make Microsoft rich. In my latest post I had talked about 6 basic application that enough for small business operate effectively.I personally think using just this 6 application (well, in most cases this are our small business daily task) will give Microsoft some pinch or nudge.http://www.streamxy.com/2008/10/31/6-reasons-why-y ...

there's an easier method, just download the cd over bittorrent, and mount it directly. it'll bring up the upgrade dialog box and you just upgrade it that wayhttps://help.ubuntu.com/community/IntrepidUpgrades
