zatznotfunny.com — CEO Tom Rogers sat down for a video interview with Reuters today. The big news is the TiVo-powered Comcast boxes are on target for late this year... and it sounds like our existing boxes will be upgraded over the network via a software "burst."

Here are some cool prgming codes for the remote that should have been implemented from the very beginning. I know I'd be lost without the 30-sec skip feature: http://dcortesi.com/2005/05/04/motorola-dct6412-comcast-dvr-30-second-skip/

What I freakin' need is for me to be able to 1. transfer my 40+ hours of recorded programs to my PC in one shot. No more 40 hours of streaming it via CapDHVS hacks to get it to the PC. In this modern age of technology, its stupid that companies limit tech progress to make some quick bucks. Idiots2. skip commercials. A 30 or 60 sec FF button is a blessing3. ability to upgrade the Hard Drive to higher cap and removal of the nonsensical 5C encryption. Finally, a true and cheap HD-DVD recorder that'll let me record hi-def content to disc.

I love my Comcast/Moto box. Mine has very rare delays, but they are nothing compared to TiVo's delays when editing your series priority list (ARGH!).The software is very different then TiVo's, and definitely not as user-friendly, but it is very usable anyway and has some *really* cool features TiVo doesnt have - HD (natch), dual-tuners, and the TV image never goes away - it just pops into the corner, which is great. My Series 2 just sits there and serves as the third tuner.

ok people THE IGUIDE IS NOT MOTOROLA!!! the iGuide was a joint development by Comcast and GuideWorks.....it is in no way shape or form Motrola's fault the guide sucks......also this is OLD NEWS! we have known about this since the deal last year!! and finally the price point currently theorized by most is $2.95 a month additional on top of the $9.95 DVR rental fee......which comes out to be less by a few cents than the standalone tivo units monthly charge and as a bonus no worries about your box being outdated since the cable co will upgrade when a new version comes out!

I have the Moto 6412 with Comcast. I haven't used a TiVo that much. Please tell me its possible to disable that annoying sound effect that plays anytime you press a button on the remote. If that's not an option than I'm not interested when Comcast gets it. I was at a friends house who had Tivo. After about 5 minutes of hearing that stupid sound I wanted to throw the thing out the window.
