theinquirer.net — Sony has officially licensed the Unreal 3 Engine from Epic Games. If the PS3 can showcase the engine like its PC counterpart, then Microsoft may be in a tough situation. It should be an interesting story to follow, in the meantime, check it out.

Sure XBOX 360 will license Unreal 3 engine but not to Bungie for sure.

Its not part of XNA. XNA is basically DirectX 10.

I can't find the link right now but Cliffy B has commented on the fact that Gears wouldn't even run on a PS3 since they could barely manage to get it to fit into 512MB of RAM let-alone the 256MB the PS3 specs are showing. That being said, I'm sure the Unreal tech will still look great on the PS3 (as it does on the 360) since there are ways to get around the memory consumption...it'll be cool to see what Sony offers up to compete with Gears :).
