they called it HD mode because it makes the game look nicer on an HDTV, not that its in HD. Maybe capcom has something hidden in Dead Rising to make the game in SD mode and no buffers.....
So I tried it, and it slowed it down to an unplayable leve, there was a considerable lag from the time you make a move and the time Kratos actually does something.The resolution looked better though.

You're right I remember the progressive option. Could never use it, but it was there.

Just tried this for myself, and the improvement over the standard progressive setting is very minimal. Still cool they put it in there.
