Being an alum of that great school, I'd have to say the University is ready for the task. The libraries on campus are incredible and heading into the dungeon of Memorial Library will be something I never forget.Public work and historical materials should be free to access for all. This is a great step for the project, which is only labeled controversial by publishers who feel threatened in the first place.

I guess you don't need good grammar or spelling to get into the university.

No, you don't. College isn't about learning specifics, its learning how to think.

Haha, the old dungeon of Memorial Library. I love the cages, some of the best seclusion for studying on campus...until the grad student that occupies it comes back.

Yeah the Dungeon is where I wrote my senior thesis from start to finish in 5 hours. Certainly won't ever forget that.I think it's great the UW is supporting google on this one. How many old and crumbling books are on those shelves? TONS. and I know, because my father is a history professor and everytime he'd come and visit me...I'd have to follow him to memorial library and the historical society to photocopy pages of books for HOURS at a time. now google can preserve these books for a lot longer, and hopefully prevent sons of profs from having to go through that horrible photocopying ordeal.
