visualizingeconomics.com — "Another income map, this time plotting the % of people living in poverty based on the 2000 Census. If you would like to see a more detailed version go to Social Explorer and choose "Poverty" from the second drop down, then select the magnifying glass to zoom in on a specific county."

Social explorer is really cool, I'm probably going to play with it for a while! It's pretty powerful too.

Seriously. Can someone overlay this map on top of a map showing the percentage of people who are devout Christians? I'd not be surprised to see a large correlation, especially in the South-East.

They created a credit bubble to stop the real economy from collapsing. Members of the government (Alan Greenspan in 2003) told people to take adjustable mortgages. Of course they were able to win the elections in 2004 with an inflated economy based on a credit bubble. Now we are paying the price of the credit bubble with increasing poverty, people who can't afford to pay their mortgages and increasing numbers of defaults and bankruptcies.http://www.thebankruptcynews.com/

No, not all jobs are created equal. Also, nothing is perfect. There will be no society where EVERYONE is guaranteed stable high-payed jobs. For this reason, it seems counter-productive to define building these factories as exploitation. I'm sure those who have been "exploited" by being introduced to a local, unionized, decently-paying job enjoy the factory.
