desktop.google.com — According to Google's online help files, uninstalling Google Desktop may break your internet. Although Google offers several solutions to the problem, it leaves one wondering if this is a Microsoft-like tactic of breaking the system on uninstallation (as the uninstallation of Internet Explorer will break Microsoft Windows), or an honest mistake.

i don't know where your getting your information about it reporting back to the NSA, but i bet it conspericythoeries.com or some suc hbulls**t.it's perfectly normal for an applicatio to leave files on you computer after installation, it often handy to do so to help detect previous installs if you ever reinstall it.infact every program you have ever used most likely leaves a trace of itself in some form even after that magic windows uninstall shield nonsense has told you otherwise

It's so true. I had this one movie editing program, and it was a peice of crap, and every time I tried uninstalling I would get so many errors and it would just not go away. In the end, I had to format, but I was due for one anway.

"I'm 99% sure that locked my motherboard out of the internet'Uh-huh. Maybe the little gremlin packed up and left. "locked my motherboard out"? What does that even mean?

My computer went hay wire after I deleted the folders - since the new corporate policy forbid it to run. It wasn't until later on another machine that i saw the files that said DON'T DELETE THIS FOLDER OR FILES!!!So, yeah... it really should be more benign.

"Ummm....yeah? Seriously, I think Google has a good business plan...."Since when did google actualy have a business plan except organize all the worlds information. I thought that except for that they just did random things yet did them well.

Internet repair is easy. Just get some tubes down at the Home Depot and patch it in at the leak. Oh, and get some for big business, too. They'll need a lot of tubes to make their own private internet that they can use like a truck without getting Ted Stevens mad. I bet he'll get five internets a day when that gets fixed.

@oldsalt.Well, I'm just sayin, they do provide a fix, but it's stupidly pointless. Alternative methods or not, This shouldn't have happened in the first place.

What does that even mean?It means, that my PC was physically blocked from connecting to the internet.. 3weeks of trying got me no where, after RMA'ing the motherboard, I was back online without problems, and i'm now avoiding ZA like the black plague _

Here I sit. My wife is REALLY p***** at me. I too, downloaded Google Desktop but to her machine. She didn't like it. No big deal. Just go into Control Panel and delete it, right? What a headache!!! No Internet Explorer. Funny thing is I could still get and send e-mails, update Ad-Aware SE, and do Live Update in Norton. I tried everything including going to troubleshooting Internet Explorer and troubleshooting Google Desktop on another machine. Nothing in troubleshooting Internet Explorer and an apology from Google saying there technicians are working on the problem. I tried system restore. Again, no luck. Jeez Google. Thanks a lot. Why not post a warning or take it off the net or something! If anyone has any clues please let me know. Her computer is now a little more then just a paper weight.
