artemus: I'm sorry, but nuclear is not the safest alternative. It's called solar. If legislators were smart and started requiring solar panels to be installed on all new housing projects, it would drive costs down (which have already been driven down in the past few years) while simultaneously generating a large amount of new power on the system. This would especially benefit areas like California and Arizona, where it's much sunnier.Oh, and guess what? Solar power doesn't have any waste that needs post-processing. Nuclear does.
