IMO none of it was actually done for entertainment. All the horrors were committed for the sole purpose of showing potential invaders/criminals/assassins what would happen to them if they came against them.It was all psychological warfare more than fun. It is a lot of work to torture someone or orchestrate some bizarre execution.I'm not saying that some of them didn't come to enjoy it, but more for the demonstration of their own power than a love of blood and gore.
