furbism.com— Use FireFox on a Mac? Then you have to check out these builds! They are about 2 times faster than normal ones.

farfromsubtl, Camino isn't "optimized" for the Mac, it's a Mac browser from the ground up. It's a seperate product from Firefox, which has an "official" Mac version from Mozilla as well. Firefox remains popular with some Mac users, however, since Camino doesn't have support for FF extensions.
Hey, I'd give the 2.0 RCs a go. They're significantly faster to launch than the 1.5s on my dev machine (Dual 1.25) and my Powerbook (1.25 AlBook), and they seem snappier in general. Admittedly both my machines out-horsepower your 733, but I would imagine you'll see benefit.Plus, if you get on the 2.0 train now, you can get your extensions sorted and whatnot before the official 2.0 comes out later this month. :)
Check out Foxmarks https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/2410/ if you want to automate that bookmark syncing. It's become invaluable to me, at least. I'm looking into Google Browser Sync, but I can't comment intelligently on it. Foxmarks has worked like a dream since the first time I installed it.I'm glad my builds brought some new life to your Bondi! Look later today for the G3 RC3 of Firefox 2 to go up. I've found the perceived performance much better, meaning it seems to launch faster, respond snappier, etc.
@colonelpanic: That's just wrong. Camino is written in Coca, where Firefox isn't. Camino supports Spotlight, Bojour, Keychain, etc, Firefox doesn't. I'd go so far as to say that Gecko is one of the few things they have in common.
I thought that too. It doesn't work. You can tell me it does, but I tried it, and it doesn't. My G4 won't build a G5 build, and the cross-compiling setup for building either a universal intel/ppc build or an intel only build just doesn't work. I did a lot of experimenting. No love at all. I was very interested in this, but alas. I know it says places that you can, but it just doesn't work.

i used deer park for a while, until i remembered that safari is still twice as fast on page loads for me, and 10 times as fast on startup.

If you think the 1.5.0.7 build is fast, get one of the FX2 RC3 builds. Those things fly.

ELFURBE: let me just reiterate my thanks and praise for all your work customizing the builds. You are appreciated.;-)
