itwire.com.au — There's no word better than "ultimate" to convey the impression that you're getting nothing but the best. However, when it comes to Microsoft's new software, whatever you end up getting is going to cost you heaps. And all those bits and bytes can be yours for just US$679, the price of a fairly handy desktop computer.

the first thing that came to mind when i saw this was... the rumors about the DRM and Vista must be true. because if you upgrade to Vista and it whacks everything... you will need to have some software to that will run on it.

Here's an idea - TWO versions. One for business, one for home. Think Office vs. Works. Charge a bit more for the business version. Include Access (shudder) and Outlook with the office version and leave them out of the Home version. Two versions targeted at two markets with two prices. No muss, no fuss.

Good old Linux, it doesn't need any new hardware...i love being able to do lots of things on Linux....like web surfing, email, word processing, and uh......web surfing.Where the crap do you get the figures for the hardware upgrades?! Most people will be able to run this stuff with their existing box. And most people won't buy the Ultimate version. Office currently has a student version thats < $100. You can get it really cheap at some colleges. Its soo much better than OO. 'To all MS haters: mod me down if you like, meanwhile i'll be over here programming and gaming the hell out of my Windows box all the while laughing at you.
