I downloaded Ubuntu 3 months ago, did hours and hours of research from reading forums etc...And I got a full fledged recording studio set up on my 700$ laptop that would rival a 2500$ mac running Digi 002My main complaint is the lack of virtual synths.Otherwise Ardour with Rosegarden are killer. Once you get it working. I had zero Linux experience prior to delving into this 3 months ago also.

In general I'm not a huge fan of Heavy Metal (Jono Bacon's stated genre for his music), but I think it's awesome that he's giving this experiment a try.
