I'm using the 8.10 Kubuntu KDE4.2 Beta1 and I have to say its way better than the 4.1 build provided with the standard build of KDE4.1. I'd go so far to say it is polished enough for regular use, At least for me. Within hours of my original install I had to install the Gnome Desktop as the Kubuntu 4.1 build provided was simply hideous. As such I have to say as a regular KDE user I found the Gnome desktop to be very easy to use and quite pretty. Even more interesting to me was how it was so much like the KDE 3.x environment where the Desktop properties are essentially that of a directory. With 4.2 I was able to ditch Dolphin and use Konqueror as the default file manager. Speed has increased dramatically and I'm starting to get wood with these newfangled widgets.Thats the good part. The upgrade was anything but flawless with a number of broken package dependencies, etc, etc, which took a few tries to get it right.
