jonobacon.org — A new competition to add free culture content in free formats to new Ubuntu releases has been launched. The Ubuntu Free Culture Showcase is designed to apply the Ubuntu ethos to free culture and give free culture artists a platform to show off their work to millions of Ubuntu users all over the world.

The "Experience Ubuntu" movie in example-content is just 3.4 MB and is 1:36m in length. For demo content, that certainly is long enough. This isn't about not showing respect, it's about being practical - this art isn't meant to show off the art, but to show off Ubuntu, which can be done in one minute without taking up too much space on the CD.

cause ubuntu is where all the art is happening, **rubs eyes from horrid mix of orange icons and brown desktop**... i mean really the orange should be used as a special colour to donate importance to a part of the UI or icon, not smeared over ever single icon and everthing highlighted.not to mention the some of the people choosing the stuff are some of the ones that pushed away the artists from ubuntustudio.
