Don't know why you're getting dugg down - you're right on every point. Sysadmins need more than just long term updates. They also need enterprise tools like SUSE and Red Hat offer, and Ubuntu is sorely lacking.

Yellow Dog Linux used to support PPC; not sure if it still does. Give it a shot: http://us.fixstars.com/products/ydl/

It looks like the new Intel driver released a few days ago may be making a difference in that regard (judging from some of the comments towards the end of that bug)

Take a look at GParted, which you should be able to run from the LiveCD. It will allow you to shrink your Windows partition, making more room for you to expand your Linux partition as well. If you're feeling frisky you could go ahead and create a new partition and define it as the mount point for your /home folder (as nestcrw suggested above). Do a little Googling on the subject and decide if you want to try it.Resizing the Windows partition will most likely set you up for a CHKDSK the next time you boot to Windows, but shouldn't be an issue.Good luck!

Most of the games I play now run on Linux. I keep a dual boot because of Microsoft Office. Open Office is just so fugly and slow.
