ummmm...... the open-source manifesto specifically states that there is room for both open-source and proprietary software to coexist and thrive in this world. using a mix of proprietary and open-source/free software does not defeat the purpose of either, but addresses the needs of individuals that cannot be met with one or the other.Luckily there are totally free, mixed free/non-free and totally non-free OS's out there in great variety, so people have the choice to pick the tools that suit them best.
