I wouldn't want all that crap. The need for a terminal makes things more secure, especially sudo usage. It doesn't take a genius to figure out apt/synaptic/GDebi, seriously stop waiting for things to be done for you! And, with GDebi it's a two click install.1. Click the .deb file2. Click install.

@moture: "stop waiting for things to be done for you!"Isn't that sort of the point of computers?

Let's examine the windows method of installing programs....1. Search for program that does needed task on google, etc. using firefox, ie, opera, or the equivalent.2. Download the program3. Attempt to install...4. Oops, forgot to get those dependencies that the site mentioned but I forgot.5. Download dependencies.6. Install dependencies7. Install program (clicking through an installation wizard with around [my estimate] 7 pages, in the process choosing directories, etc.)8. Use program.Time estimate: 5-30 minutes depending on the program...Oh, and that doesn't take into account security...Ubuntu:1. search for task in synaptic2. pick a program, by right clicking and selecting install3. 1-2 repeat for any other programs that you may want4. install program5. use.Time estimate: Longest I've ever spent is around 10 minutes (eclipse)...and that DOES take into account security...which is easier again?

You forgot to mention the amount of thought and budget-planning-time one has to invest to decide if s/he wants to purchase a particular software (when the software is non-free, which is in most of the cases), starting with "winzip"
