Unless you really want to switch to Dapper now, I'd stick with whatever other OS your using and just check back and update every couple of days or so for a fix (assuming you have access to a wired connection to update - otherwise wait for a release candidate). Now a bug report's been filed and the only thing the Ubuntu team is working on is bug fixing (Dapper is feature complete now), I wouldn't expect it to take much more than a week. I had a problem with DHCP when I first installed Dapper four months back, and was worried I would have to switch back but it was literally fixed within 24 hours.

you can install to a thumb drive or external hard drive with the text-installer (not the installer from the live CD, which they're calling 'Desktop CD'). I'm about to do it, I'm at 14% downloaded.

Can anyone tell me if this includes the latest ati drivers (8.24.8) with support for x1000 series cards? I am itchin to try XGL/compiz but dont feel like messing with a 1 week old clean and working debian/sid install on my laptop. TIA!

Or just try this to update from Breezy Badger to Dapper Drake: gksudo "update-manager -d"Warning! I just tried this and it worked fine. Too bad it is by far the longest upgrade ever. If you are fond of watching grass grow, this might be for you. Seriouslly, it is slow and I have a rather fast connection.
