duke, if this war were really about oil, it would be over in a few weeks.think about it, what is the US military best trained to do?take, hold and secure areas that are not densely populated (Iraqi oil fields and related assets, not cities)if this war were really about oil, we'd have taken, held and secured the oil and oil related assets and let the cities fall into a much worse state than they are now.if you are mad because we gave them back their money without good accountability, fine -- that's rational and realistic, but this war for oil stuff is just silly.

Riixfu makes some good points but misses the point. You don't pour money on a fire to put it out. The number one issue after the invasion was security for the Iraqi people. The US failed miserably in that area. No amount of influx of money would have helped given that failure. Instead, we just poured that money down a rat hole. And, where did the money go, and how did it benefit the "man on the street"? Seems like a very reasonable question to ask given the amount of misery Mr Man on the Street is now enduring.

This is one of the reasons Kerry voted against the bill which included armor for troops. He voted for it before they revised it to take out such precautions. He stated there werent enough secure ways to track where the money was going.Complain all you want but you earned this one America. This issue could of been addressed and the bill could of been redrafted to including this security measure but republicans opted instead to call Kerry a flip flopper. So I wonder where that money went hmmmm? Republicans... FTW?
