articles.latimes.com — Eydie McNeill was fuming about the newly passed healthcare bill, but her rage had nothing to do with socialism, death panels or the deficit. She just likes a good tan, and because of a provision in the bill that puts a 10% additional tax on tanning salon fees, her sessions are probably going to cost her more.

I like tanning. It is relaxing. I understand the health risks involved, but I've chosen to do it for a while anyway. A 10% tax will not deter me from going, but I disagree with the fact that this tax was instituted because the cosmetic surgery industry wouldn't have it. It is another case of government picking on the little guys who can't rally enough people to fight the tax. It sucks. Like someone said above, it will be called a "luxury tax" of sorts. Anything other than food, basic clothing and shelter could definitely be considered "luxury" so we should expect these taxes to keep on coming...one "luxury" after the other.

Lying f**king prick.

gh0st037, this is a luxury tax. People that do tan have disposable income. Small business tanning salons simply pass it on to the customer. The customer can easily absorb the rise in cost.

hope you don't do anything even remotely unhealthy.

"People should get taxed if they voluntarily decide to do things that gives themselves cancer?"Sounds reasonable.
