Just why do politicians believe they have the right to tax every human activity? And why do taxpayers believe they are helpless to stop it? And who in their right mind believes the government can spend their money more wisely than they can? And when did it become the government's job to fight obesity?
Here in New Mexico the legislature meets for thirty days this year. Those thirty days are the most feared of the year. The senate and house are run by democrats. Every year it is TAX and SPEND. The nuts up in Santa Fe will tax anything and everything for the privilege to spend taxpayer money. So this don't really sound too far out for them.
It's my opinion, and that of others, that taxpayer funded universal health-care is going to lead to many people resenting and actively chastising their neighbors; either for being too fat, or smoking and drinking too much, or not exercising enough, etc...I think experience bears that conclusion out. Just look at the very first comment in this thread. People feel entitled to tell others what kind of lifestyle they should lead, and their money isn't even on the line yet. Can you imagine what it's going to be like when it is?
Having just moved after living in NM for the past 4 years, and watching it get worse - one of the poorest states in the country with greenies suing to stop development at every turn, incredibly rotten literacy rates, violent crime out of control, meth and other drugs trafficked with impunity , overrun by criminal invaders, drunken driving and spousal abuse out of control, to name but a few problems - you would think voters would stop and think for a minute: Let's see, Democraps have run NM for most of its history, especially its recent history. Things have gotten worse, not better. Is there a correlation? Problem is, I think, most Democraps have been educated in government schools and don't know what correlation means, and most have never learned how to think...
