film.guardian.co.uk — The film Sicko has already caused Moore to clash with the American authorities. Now, according to movie mogul Harvey Weinstein, whose Weinstein Company is behind the film, the US government is attempting to impound the negative.

There is no such thing as "free" anything. Most people believe freedom of speech is OK as long as it supports your agenda. Everybody jumps on the Free Speech bandwagon until somebody else says something different and half the nation starts complaining about "Freedom of Speech." It works both ways. Moore can promote, say and do whatever he wants. But so can somebody else. And just because you are "free" to do and say whatever you want doesn't mean somebody else isn't free to counter what you say and do. I mean if somebody says something to stir the pot and Digg thinks it's stupid and a spam, they can take it down... But no, that violates "freedom of speech" according to half the lemmings in the world. Sorry but if somebody has a different viewpoint than you, that doesn't mean your being "censored." It just means you want freedom of speech as long as it Supports what you have to Say, not what anybody else has to say. Freedom of Speech also doesn't mean you can break laws. Like the embargo against Cuba or not, it is in fact, a law. You may or may not like many laws, but the fact is, if you break that law, you are going to suffer the consequences. If you don't think that, then your an idiot. It seems we've become a country of Lemmings. Those who support one side or those who are against it. There is no middle ground anymore. Nobody is objective. It's either your view or no view and so on. Lemmings are what everybody has become Free Speech isn't about what you have to say, it's about what everybody has to say. As far as health care ,yeah it sucks and is overpriced, but there have been states that tried to pass some kind of State wide Health care. Oregon is an example of that. But the taxpayers usually vote against it because they don't want to raise their own taxes. There is no such thing as a free lunch. If you get universal health care, that means somebody has to pay for it. Taxpayers. And being there are far more Baby Boomer's than anybody else now and they're getting older, it will be the people from 18-49 who have to pay for most of the health care benefits other people are getting. Somebody will have to pay for Universal Health care, it's just the way it is.Maybe some people shouldn't have dropped out of high school or got knocked up at 17 years old. Common sense will tell you if you make minimum wage, you probably aren't going to have that many benefits. Also common sense will tell you that a lot of people are not going to support "universal health care" if somebody who doesn't work, gets knocked up at 17 and is a high school drop out gets the same benefits as somebody who works 60+ hours a week and did everything they were "supposed" to do growing up; whether that's going to college, going to tech school or finding a skill like an electrician, plumber or becoming a good salesperson or whatever. People complain and protest about paying for illegal immigrants and their health care now. How many people do you think will complain when half of the US who don't work or barely work are getting the same benefits as somebody who works 60+ hours a week. It means half the US will be paying for the other half to get medical benefits. I'm sorry but while Health care does suck, having "universal health care" will probably mean half of society works their behinds off to support their family and pay the new Health Tax while others become nothing more than "welfare" benefactors. That's not Universal Health care, that's a bunch of leaches demanding services just for existing. If you want better health benefits, do something about it. Complain, protest, whine, but also go back to school, find a skill. Do something about yourself. It might not take a year, two years, but if all you do is whine about the "System" and the "Government" and yet do nothing to improve yourself, your nothing but a leach on society. It is obvious that somebody who makes minimum wage is not going to get the same benefits as somebody who makes 100K per year. Why should they? I mean if people start assuming everybody should give them things just because you were born in the US, then hey; Microsoft, Google, My Space, You Tube, Amazon, Comcast, Time Warner, Disney, Trump, Steve Wynn, Mark Cuban, Kevin Rose, and all the other millionaires and billionaire's people love or hate these days should donate money to start some kind of "universal health care" and "universal college tuition" and so on so the majority of People in the US do have health care and can go to college. But you know that will never happen.

@ graberc Any American made drugs that we purchase in our hospital are bought at current American prices. The wholesale purchasing price from foreign suppliers is not regulated by the Canadian government. Prices vary in the US depending on the buyers purchasing power, or lack thereof. For example, a senior citizen in Vermont pays, on average, twice as much for the same drug as the drug companies favoured customers. The price of the drug in Canada is the same for everyone, government, privately insured patients, or uninsured patients who buy retail. Each year, U.S. drug companies spend hundreds of millions on political influence including lobbying, campaign donations and extensive ad campaigns to defend their high prices. The drug industry employs over 600 lobbyists in Washington alone (more than one for every member of congress). This drives U.S. drug prices even higher.Research and development in pharmaceuticals in Canada currently accounts for 10% of the global new medicines discovered, despite representing only 1.8% of the world pharmaceutical market. Canada is certainly not lagging behind in innovation.

I don't think you should have been dugg down, notig. But as to the matter of not wanting to pay for universal health coverage: if you are a health care consumer (and who isn't)...you already do, in myriad ways. You pay higher costs for the inefficiency of the multi-payer systems now. 20% of your money goes to paying an administrator just to keep track of the billing paperwork. A certain percentage pays for the uninsured (same way shoppers pay for shoplifters, or car insurance consumers pay for uninsured drivers...the costs are absorbed by the system). Your tax dollars subsidize the R&D of pharma who develop drugs for which they are granted ten years of patents. Then, a certain percentage of your money pays for drugs at outrageous markups which you've already subsidized (and which are sold to Canada for cheap.)Above all of this...you do not get to choose your doctor. You are limited to the choices of doctors in your "plan". Moreover, you are limited to their hospitals, their labs, their specialists, and their preferred drugs. You lack choice. It adds up to over 15% of US GDP paying for healthcare. It's over $3 TRILLION a year. No other country even pays double digits of GDP...and all the other first world countries have universal health insurance, and most outrank the US by objective measures like infant mortality and lifespan. You are already paying for universal coverage. You are just not getting it. You're getting ripped off.
