"Some senators expressed impatience at the prospect of waiting several more years, saying the lack of spectrum would hinder emergency workers in the event of an attack. "BS.. This should read, "Some senators expressed impatience at the prospect of waiting several more years, saying the lack of spectrum would hinder the ability to take the billions made from selling the airwaves and shoving the money in their big fat pockets"
^^Well said. This whole transition seems a but sketchy to me. Honestly, the American government doesn't do things that require deadlines. They keep extending the deadlines and pleasing their business intrests until some small or Chinese company takes the lead then all the American companies belatedly follow. Look at fuel efficiency. The American government is run by the huge oil companies so they have dragged their feet in passing real CAFE standards. In the mean time the Japanese have been working furiously to develop quality fuel efficient cars. Stick that in your Yukon Denali and smoke it.
