Stealth doesn't have to be used for war, instead it could be used for reconnaissance and assuming that they don't want us to know that they are visiting then they would logically use some sort of stealth technology or at least observe us from a far, perhaps at satellite range. Wow, I just realized this whole conversation is absurd.

threemagic: But thousands of scientists have stealthily observed ants, spiders, antelope etc etc. They travel 1/2 way around the world to study "insignificant" creatures and never try to "make contact".
