Two things. One, living in Vancouver, BC I am often driving behind/around people who are smoking out in their cars while driving. I don't think there is room for denial by petulant, selfish little bitches just because they want their pot. We have guys here like Marc Emery who make an intelligent argument for marijuana. "Responsibility" is not a word missing from her argument. But it is absurd to say that people won't operate dangerous machinery while high because they already do it while high, drunk, on prescription medication, overtired, etc. The movement is SO close to finally making progress, I think people like the one in the article that heckled the US Attorney is either an agent provocateur or so retarded as to not deserve to speak to him.Secondly on the nature of the US Attorney. Back in the day, we had big training contracts with the US Attorneys, and like many professionals they had to take classes for continuing education credits. Well, they'd book the class and I'd teach them and they'd say "we don't care, we just need the hours" etc and we'd have plenty of time to shoot the breeze. The point is that what this guy is doing is pretty amazing. It's a highly politicised position. For them to have such lax enforcement means there is serious progress being made. If you're a private attorney defending scumbag criminals, you might not like them, but you'll defend them. Same goes for US Attorneys. If you're a crusader for the little guy and like to sue insurance companies, the US Attorney's office is not for you. There's a lot of people there who don't have the opportunity to make their own philosophy or policy choices. This guy is a Bush II appointee and he is going easy for a US Attorney. I don't know why he's going easy, but that sounds like good news. Probably best not to let the whackjobs heckle him, though...just in case.

Although I am against marijuana use, I am totally in favor of marijuana use if it can help relieve pain or make a person's life more manageable. That being said, I am sure that there will be many requests for medical marijuana and then followed by weight loss pills.

These students should be happy that they got to grill the U.S. Attorney. I'm not a fan of Bush appointees either but you sometimes get more traction with sugar than vinegar. Having said that -- legalize it!
