Welp good luck USC. You are gonna need it here.

best wishes to USC! hopefully the scandal will be another example of what not to do in college sports

Why do they feel the need to replace one ex-football player with another? I'm sure Pat Haden's a nice guy, but I don't see any athletic administrative duties in his background. AD is an awfully high position to cut your teeth, no?
Why not do what Oregon did, and hire an AD with actual experience (Rob Mullens had spent several years as the deputy AD at Kentucky) instead of going for The Big Name?Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.

Haden was a Rhodes scholar...I'm sure he can figure it out.

I'm not saying he's not a smart guy, and I enjoyed his commentaries when I watched games he was covering, but that doesn't necessarily translate to Athletic Director success, especially at a pressure cooker like USC.
He may grow into the job, he may not; someone with prior AD (or assistant AD) experience might have been better, rather than another Mike Garrett (respected former player with zero administrative experience).

They're also returning Bush's Heisman and erasing him from all their record book. It's sad, but you can't say he didn't deserve it.

Well, it's pretty harsh and not totally undeserved, but many of the sanctions could be successfully appealed. There were a lot of factual errors in the NCAA's football findings, and no evidence of Bush's actions being preventable or knowable by USC. Plus, it may work in their PR favor that the supposed benefits never had any influence on the outcomes of their games. If everything was true, it still had no bearing on whether Bush came to or stayed at USC. Nor did it cause any one to play better.

USC will be on a downhill spiral for the next few years. They'll make a comeback someday, but the big powers will continue to be Alabama, Florida, Oklahoma and a few others. Oh and Ohio State will make it to the national championship again and lose, and then I'll lol.

As an alum who spent his four years there watching them get 3 Heismans, I agree there's going to be a dip. Though it would be kind of funny if they topped the AP polls next season and missed the bowls. Maybe it's just hopeful bias, but I still think they'll be a national contender during the sanctions, get strong recruiting classes, and continue to build off the tradition and great atmosphere of the school. They could realistically come back after the bans and win the Pac-10

Great, another reason to be happy about my non-refundable football season tickets this year.

Hey, you bought a yearbook and got free tickets out of the deal. If you're going to complain, do so about the Coliseum no longer serving booze!

Pete Carroll and Lane Kiffen are some of the biggest lying scumbags in sports today.

"f**k SC, f**k LA, let's put these motherf**kers on the map. We're gonna take their f**king hearts out. DON'T LET THEM DO THIS s**t MAN!" - James Bethea pregame speech before Cal beat #3 USC 34-31. USC had went to the 50 yard line chanting "this is our house" at Cal's stadium and Bethea was pissed.Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.

They're also sending the Reggie Bush Heisman back to the Heisman Trust and taking down his jersey from Heritage Hall. Say what you want, but you gotta respect the self-done house cleaning.
