@unicornhunterCheck your numbers. The #1 selling artist in 2006 in both physical and digital sales was Rascal Flatts, who sings Country music. And 2006's #2 selling artist was Johnny Cash. Also Country music.Fact is, in the top 10 selling artists last year across all genres, Country had the aforementioned #1 and #2, as well as #4 Carrie Underwood, #6 Tim McGraw, and #9 Keith Urban. As far as airplay goes, Country artists took 6 of the top 10 spots across all genres.Source: http://www.cmt.com/artists/news/1549393/01052007/rascal_flatts.jhtmlIn both sales and airplay, at least in the US, Country Music completely PWNS Rap.
"sampling" is just another way of saying "using someone else's work without permission".It's rediculous to say that it's a form of music, when all you're doing is editing and morphing something another person made. If you want to "sample", do it from work that you own or produced.
Quote indicas:"At a bare minimum Suni should receive the full amount Timbaland earned from the track."Really? If it weren't for Timbaland and this little scandal, I would never have heard of Suni...

" There is one rogue exception to the daunting U.S. Copyright Law: Fair Use. What exactly is Fair Use? Well, Fair Use is what allows Saturday Night Live to use copyrightable elements in their sketches. Fair Use is what allowed 2 Live Crew to sample Roy Orbison and get away with it."http://www.superswell.com/samplelaw/main.html

timbaland didn't "steal someone's sample" that's f**king bulls**t.

Not all sampling is stealing. Using a sample doesn't make you any less creative than a guitar player. A sample in the control of a 'recording artist' is just another tool for making art. http://www.audioskull.com
