mynewsjunkie.com— Twitter users were posting ?#CNNfail? on thousands of tweets Saturday night saying that their coverage of important news like the Iranian elections were downplayed by the cable network.

Major News groups tend to censor their news. Twitter and Digg can make people sit up and notice. We do have the the problem of the mob mentality getting in, but we'll see.
CNN didn't cover these Iranian protests until AFTER the Internet (blogs, etc.) took up the mantel.I'm glad that CNN has now caught on (probably sensed good rating dollars could come from revolution).
TonicTuna, are you trolling? Blocking and limiting internet access is grave. The internet is not an obscure piece of experimental technology, but a strong medium which has many important roles to fill.
That is like upbraiding a consumer for not shopping in a riot zone that police have barricaded to the public. They CAN'T do it there! Iran is shutting down foreign journalists and most of it's Internet bandwidth and external pipelines have been shut down.Apparently, the guy likes to see a lot more communication revolving around holocaust denial than on the subject of his own election. He created and hosted an international symposium on the former but is stifling the latter with draconian measures. And we just saw last week in the US what a vehemently anti-Jewish holocaust denier is capable of doing.Maybe holocaust deniers should take time to pause and reflect and not preen and repress this summer. That is not the sole purpose of the media. It can be a constructive tool for educating people. Not a fan of rioting - I find it incomprehensible in the framework of my life experiences. But some people for social, psychological, or economic reasons do riot. Some people like plaid. I can't make sense of it but it happens. I think they do it for different reasons - some out for a thrill and many out of desperation - or fear.I think there would be less of it going on Iran if the media had been able to operate. Denying people outlets for their angst and inlets for information has left them without positive feedback loops with respect to their government and each other, in Iran.Obviously, this information vacuum has just let rumors fly and it won't take more than a whisper motivated by fear & uncertainty to drown out all the official PSAs by spokespeople and so on. In this age, people like to get their news from reporters and fellow citizens. Like having a balanced diet - not just one type of food. When their steady balanced diet has been disrupted and they are just getting to eat one type of thing, naturally they are going to be upset at the situation at the moment and fearful/concerned about what change is coming next.I hope that things get better for people in Iran. Because I remember this government came into power in Iran 3 decades ago with a lot of hangings in Tehran. Whether they stay or go, I hope that does not happen again. The place probably has enough ghosts in it as it is.As people pointed out, CNN and other professional news organizations outside Iran are giving full media coverage to Iran's elections and events before & after those elections. They just might not be able to provide as much video of Iran as they would in a good environment like the press is granted elsewhere. Blame who is responsible, not them.

Yes but the daily show gives more information and truth than most news networks, despite being meant for entertainment.
