articles.latimes.com — So much for the great "All-American" snack food. When you bite into a Twinkie, you are chewing on an international nexus of suppliers. The problem is that they used to be made BETTER and now they're made CHEAPER with different ingredients. There is a cookbook that you can get that tells you how to make many fast food and convenience food treats from scratch, that taste almost the same, in a better way. The goal of the book was just to make them at home but it ends up being healthier, so why can't food companies do it? Because garbage is cheaper. Seriously, do you think petroleum is refined specifically for the stuff they put in processed foods?

"Teaching small, uneducated and very independent entrepreneurs the market value of meeting American standards"What American standards ? The only standards here are what the lobbyist pay for. Every year the FDA get paid off to turn the other way. look at the peanut poisoning. those cars got rejected from Canada the FDA didnt do squat. Health supplements dont have to prove their claims the law got changed so the FDA has to prove they dont live up to their claims... Give me a break
