I dunno, I've played drums for 12 years, piano for 18 and guitar/bass for 10 and I still can't do it after 10+ tries. I get close, but the circle turns into more of a parabola.
The only way to get this to work is to do the motion at the right time. If you pick the right point, it will feel totally natural, and you will just be able to do it.
